On
Tour with Brian Voss
Motor City Classic - Taylor, MI
(Nov. 1 - 5, 2006)
Hi out there in bowling land! Not too much to report on this week,
other than the fact that I was there, I observed, I tried, and I finished.
Some of you already know of the injury to my left hip which happened
last week. As I write this, I can say that it is fully healed. I can
also say that when I arrived this week, I didn't know if I would be
able to bowl at all. I hadn't picked up a ball since last weeks event,
and went into this tournament with no expectations. It was a fairly
easy shot, but for the most past, good ball speed was crucial. There
are so many extra strikes to be had with good ball speed, and most
of the players that did well all had good ball speed. Recovering from
an injury,I would have preferred a lot of oil where I could get real
soft. Nonetheless, I did finish the tournament, but with terrible
results. I have to admit I got a little frustrated. I'm not used to
being hampered by physical disabilities, so it was a grind. I typically
use Cheetahs and R47's on the short oil, which I did. You could play
out with a lot of ball speed early, but later had to move in and go
around the boards a little more, but again with good ball speed. I
remember the last time we used this pattern, I won the event. I had
gone home and practiced for 3 days doing nothing but creating good
ball speed, so the next time this pattern comes around, that is exactly
what I'll do. I'll be going home and doing a lot of practice in the
next few days, have a lot of catching up to do. Stay tuned, nowhere
to go but up after the first two weeks. Thanks for reading.
