BowlersParadise.com Classic - Hammond,
IN (Nov. 30 - Dec. 4, 2005 )
This was a good week for me. I was the leader after the first round.
Typically after a great round, one can expect the next round to be
not so perfect. Especially when the only thing at stake is a pat of
the back for leading. But nonetheless, it was nice to enter the second
round able to relax. My practice is starting to pay off. Although
there is still some improvement, my timing was really good, still
working on my balance and footwork. I used a Cheetah exclusively during
both rounds. Guys were playing the lanes a lot of different ways.
Margin of error was a little less than prior weeks, with a lot of
splits on bad shots. This was evident on the telecast for those that
saw it.
During match play, I was paired against an amateur, and he took me
to the limit, each game was close until the tenth frame with the exception
of the first one. These kind of matches are good for confidence when
performance is needed in the last frames. I won that match 4-1. My
next match was against Joe Ciccone, who had made last weeks telecast.
The pair we were on was a little tighter, so I switched to a strong
Scorpion, and had a good look, but Joe bowled great, and I was defeated
4-1. I made one bad shot in the tenth frame of the third game, or
the outcome may have been different. I got the ball started a little
early, which usually means left. Overall a good week, but some more
hard work ahead. As I said earlier, sometimes results aren't seen
until some time after all of the hard work. Two weeks left before
the break, and looking forward to those weeks with some added confidence.
