On Tour with Brian Voss

Greater Omaha Classic - Council Bluffs, IA (Nov. 9 - 13, 2005 )

This was a very high scoring week. There was plenty of hook for everyone, as all types of players bowled good. I used the R47's shined up a bit, and drilled two different ways. One weak, and one strong. I was throwing the ball pretty hard because of the amount of friction, which brought me back to my days in the army when there wasn't much oil a lot of times. I had two solid blocks, and was pretty sharp on my spares. I was match up against Dave Traber, who had been blistering the squads the first 3 games after the fresh oil. He struck pretty much at will the first 3 games, but then he started to lose his shot. Instead of playing hard and straight like I had all week, and having 36 in the third frame the 4th game, I decided to move left of him with a shined up Cheetah and go around the boards. I struck the next 6 shots to get back into the match, and ended up winning that game. In the 5th game, I bowled a really good game and needed a strike in the 10th frame to win, and threw a great shot but left a solid 7. It was disappointing because I had a good feel at that time, and he was losing his shot. Such is life, but I'll build on it going into the Masters.
