On
Tour with Brian Voss
Beltway Classic - Baltimore, MD
(Dec. 6 - 10, 2006 )
Another high scoring week. It seems as if the PBA has decided to allow
walled up lanes to simulate what league bowlers play on. I don't agree
with this philosophy. This is 2 out of 3 weeks where we have had a
player roll back to back 300's. Ryan Shafer did it in Buffalo, and
Tim Criss did it this week. Whoever is making these decisions, I don't
think they understand the impact it will have on the bowling population
in general. Regardless, it is what it is. I don't feel I bowled bad,
it was just a carry contest again. I was pretty much in the hunt until
the 4th game of the last set. I bowled a game where I didn't miss
the pocket, left a 4-9 and a 7-10, and couldn't manage getting any
strikes together, bowling a 169. I lost 80 pins to the field that
game, and there wasn't enough time to catch up. I was using a Cheetah,
R47, and a Chamelon. All of them got to the pocket, just couldn't
keep up with the pace of striking.
I will be skipping next week. Going to go to Germany for some R and
R, and a little teaching, so the first segment is over for me. Will
be shoeing it up again in Reno. There has been a lot of negative talk
from the pros about the recent high scoring pace. Let's hope the decision
makers get back to some integrity, and bring it back to shot making.
We'll see. Hope everyone has a nice Christmas break, and tune in for
the second half of the tour.
