Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Classic
- Trussville, AL (Jan. 25 - 29, 2006 )
Gosh, here I am, writing about winning. I've been writing about not
winning for the past 11 events, so it's a pleasant change. We played
on the "Cheetah" pattern which I've been developing a good feel for.
I've been approaching this type of pattern with the intent to develop
a lot of ball speed, which I work hard on. I also needed a strong
enough ball with the right core, but not too strong either way. I
started out using the "Cheetah" ball in qualifying. I really didn't
need anything else, I just played with that one ball, and created
more ball speed or roll when needed. Finished the 2nd round with 300-270-256,
just throwing as hard as I could under control, with a lot of forward
roll. After qualifying, I drilled an R47, with the pin under my ring
finger, the CG about 1 1/2 inches from the center of my grip and down
about 1/2 inch, and an extra hole towards my axis and below it about
an inch. The way I was playing the lanes, this ball got down the lane
about the same, but with a lot more revs. It was really a lot of fun,
to throw hard and watch a ball rev up and just destroy the pins. So,
I used it the rest of the matches and on TV, and it was a lot of fun,
I'll tell you. I've been saying that I've been practicing a lot, which
I have, but I think I'm also really getting a feel for the entire
arsenal I have at my disposal. Can't wait to shoe it up in my home
town of Atlanta this week, and the big ones coming up soon. Stay tuned,
gonna try and make it two in a row.
