On
Tour with Brian Voss
West Virginia Championship - Parkersburg,
WV (Feb. 8 - 12, 2006 )
West Virginia was a nice stop. There were a lot of fans, and a lot
of us really felt like superstars, signing a lot of autographs, taking
a lot of pictures, and unfortunately, also battling the cold and snow.
The shot had a few options. Players that scored well started out right
of the 2nd arrow, and after they broke down, moving left of the 4th
arrow. I used Cheetahs during the later games, Scorpions during the
fresh oil, and Aliens during the middle games. I finished my first
block just out of the cut, but bowled really good the second block.
Sometimes, even though you get to practice the day before, you really
don't get a sense of how they really play until after the first round.
I had good anticipation that second round, making the moves at the
right time. I finished qualifying easily, and was matched against
Michael Fagan for match play. It was a really good match, going down
to the 10th frame of the last game. He struck on all three balls in
the tenth to shut me out, so he earned it. Tough one to lose, but
also fun to be part of.. US Open next week, gotta have a lot of patience
in that tournament. It's a long week, and there will be a lot of spare
shooting going on, so it can be a grind. Look for me to do well there.
